A fun, welcoming program for young curlers of all experience levels —
from first steps on the ice to competitive junior play.
Welcome to the ice
Whether your child is stepping onto the ice for the first time or is ready to take their curling skills to the next level,
the Fairbanks Curling Club Saturday Youth Curling Program provides a fun, welcoming environment for young curlers of all experience levels.
Our goal is simple: help kids learn to curl, build confidence, develop their skills, and have fun on the ice.
Whether an athlete is curling for fun, developing their competitive skills, or dreaming of representing their country at the World Junior Championships,
we want to provide the coaching, support, and opportunities to help them reach their goals.

Junior group placement
Juniors: Group 1 and Juniors: Group 2 are loosely organized by age, but age isn’t the only factor we consider.
Every athlete develops at their own pace. Coaches and parents can work together to determine which group will be the best fit for each curler.
Skill level, experience, confidence, maturity, and where an athlete feels most comfortable can all be considered.
Our goal is to make sure every athlete is:
Challenged
Supported
Comfortable
Having Fun
Not sure which group is right for your athlete? Talk with our coaches! We’re happy to help determine the best fit.

Specific session dates and any schedule changes will be communicated each season.

What should my child wear?
You don’t need expensive equipment to get started! Brooms, sliders, and grippers are provided by the Fairbanks Curling Club.
We recommend:
Clean, non-slip athletic shoes
Light gloves
A light jacket and/or sweater for staying warm on the ice
Comfortable athletic clothing
Helmet policy
Helmets are encouraged for all youth curlers, especially our Little Rockers (ages 5–8).
Because every child has different comfort levels and needs, helmet use will ultimately be a parent/guardian decision.
We strongly encourage helmets for young and beginning curlers as they learn to navigate the ice, slide, and become comfortable in the curling environment.
Parents/guardians are responsible for determining whether their child should wear a helmet while participating in the program.
SafeSport
The safety and well-being of our youth athletes is our top priority.
The Fairbanks Curling Club is committed to providing a safe, positive, and respectful environment for every athlete.
Our youth program follows U.S. Center for SafeSport policies and standards designed to help prevent abuse and misconduct in sport.
Coaches and volunteers working with our youth athletes are expected to follow appropriate boundaries and conduct guidelines.
Note: Register here if your curler is 21 years old or younger.
Curler should not be registered on teams if you register this way.
This is for dues to be paid by youth who are NOT on a league night team and come to youth practice ONLY.
